General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS), Family Radio Service (FRS) and the new 900 MHz walkie-talkies are all designed and built for the same purpose: short to medium range communications for personal or business use. However, there are notable differences between the three!
No license fee. The earpiece radio license is free and all you have to do is pass a 35 question multiple choice examination. In 2007 new FCC regulations removed the requirement to learn Morse code in order to obtain a license. The procedure is now much simpler.
Homeless people are being encouraged to use the shelters and the facilities designated to help homeless people get back on their feet. I do believe this is a good thing. We need to get as many people off the streets as possible. But I believe there are two categories of homeless people. One group is the transitiory or just passing through group and the other group is the icom radio chronically homeless group.
2) Check the weather conditions. Usually the most up to date weather predictions can be found on government forecasting sites found on the internet. Keep updated and try to stay out of rough weather. Certain marine radio frequencies often broadcast boating weather so if the weather looks like it is going to change remember to keep updated. If you must go out when the weather is bad, ensure everyone wears a lifejacket for the entire journey as in an emergency you will often not have enough time to put one on.
So where is the real money? The real money is in supply and demand. If you have something that is in demand it will sell. If you don't it won't. I know this is basic Icom radios, but it seems a lot of people have lost site of this for the quick, easy buck. Long lasting sales don't happen over night. Market saturation also plays a big role.
